Why should I test my well water?
Well water isn't regulated like city water. Regular testing helps ensure your water is safe to drink and free of harmful bacteria, nitrates, lead, and other contaminants.
How do I use the IAS Labs water test kit?
Order your kit, collect your sample following the included instructions, and mail it back using the prepaid label. We’ll email your lab-certified results.
How long does it take to get results?
Most results are delivered within 3–5 business days after the lab receives your sample.
What contaminants does the test check for?
Depending on the package you choose. Our test kits can screen for bacteria, nitrates, lead, arsenic, hardness, pH, and more.
Who should test their water?
Anyone using well water, buying a home, managing a farm, or just wanting peace of mind about drinking water quality.
Most private wells aren’t tested unless you do it.
Private wells are not regulated by the EPA. It’s up to homeowners to test for contaminants like bacteria, nitrates, and heavy metals.
Nitrates can be dangerous for infants under 6 months.
High nitrate levels in drinking water can interfere with how oxygen is carried in the blood, a condition called “blue baby syndrome.”
Water quality can change after big storms.
Heavy rainfall can wash contaminants into aquifers or compromise old plumbing, especially in agricultural areas.
Weird taste or smell? It’s worth testing.
Odors like sulfur or metallic taste might indicate iron, manganese, or bacterial presence - all testable with our kits.
